The Mayor of Barcelona has participated, on Friday, in the fifth Summit of cities for high speed, which was held in Figueres, where has announced that on 14 February she will meet with the new Minister of promotion, Ana Pastor, to ask him to speed up the works of the port and the station of la Sagrera.

Among the priorities that the Mayor will inform development will be to know how will be the station of la Sagrera, which is a complicated mystery but it is a large need urban transformation. “We also want to talk about the port and how you get the goods permanently”, said Trias.
At the Summit, with representatives of other cities in the area of the Mediterranean corridor as Tarragona, Girona, Figueres, Perpignan, Toulouse and Montpellier, has signed the Declaration of Figueres, which “Reaffirms the urgency and priority of the railway connection between Spain and France, that has to be designed to ensure the continuity and efficiency of the Mediterranean corridor”.
This meeting has also held that the Commission has included the Mediterranean corridor between its ten priority corridors, and they expect, as it contains the statement, the Council of Ministers of the European Union “to approve it and better adoption as soon as possible”. The momentum to the corridor to realize asking state and European authorities to prioritize investments for the modernisation of the transport of goods.
The document already signed notes that “the immediate implementation of interim access to new terminals in the port of Barcelona” is necessary and also calls, in the long term, “actions to expand the capacity for trains of goods in the central city of Barcelona” are carried out.
The conclusions of the Summit on Friday will be transmitted to those responsible for the European Union, the Spanish and French Governments, the Generalitat de Catalunya and Adif, as well as major economic and social actors in Spain, France and the European Union.
Finally, this set of cities, which began meeting in Barcelona in 2008, adopt from now on, the name of cities by the interconnection of the Mediterranean corridor.
